Icons of Modern Art. The Shchukin Collection
Exhibition in Paris from 22 October 2016 to 20 February 2017
As part of the official programme of the France-Russia year of cultural tourism 2016-17, the exhibition pays tribute to one of the greatest art patrons of the early 20th century, Sergei Shchukin, the visionary Russian collector of French modern art. As Anne Baldassari, curator of the exhibition, states, his collection „remains little know to the general western public even today. In fact, since it was broken up in 1948 it has never been gathered as a singular and coherent artistic entity.“
