Art Studio Mascots
Sharing studio space may not always be easy, but these artists were happy to share pictures and a few words about their furry best friends who keep them company (and often inspire them while they work!)
Roscoe
This is my best friend and studio mascot, Roscoe. He’s always patient when I’m focused on my art and always has his head on my lap when I’m drawing.
Buddy
When not modeling, Buddy is especially helpful in picking out frames for my pet portraits!
Nugget
My puppy’s name is Nugget. He is just four months old and loves art. He is very playful and always chews my brushes. He is truly a mascot!
Lilikoi with Artist Diane Appler
Lilikoi is a rescue kitten, now cat, from the Maui Humane society. She loves to hang out in the hammock and watch me paint!
Buddy McTavish
Buddy McTavish is our sweet rescue. My husband’s buddy. My artist muse. He has the longest eyelashes, red mustache and the softest silver hair. He tolerates being photographed for my endeavors.
Colby
Colby is one of six rescue cats in our family. He’s my studio assistant and can usually be found sleeping on the job. It’s a good thing he’s so adorably cute!
Shadow, Halo, Maggie and Jaunty
At an early age, I fell in love with pets and art, and am now sharing my studio space with my four “furkids” Maggie, a Bernese Mountain dog who is ALWAYS laying down on the floor between me and any project I’m working on, Jaunty, a Standard Poodle who is a regular guest and Shadow and Halo, my two Sphynx cats.
Tucker
My French Bulldog Tucker is my main studio assistant. He is eight months old. He supervises all of my activities and keeps me on a tight schedule. I have had dog assistants for most of my life. Tucker is the latest.
Ludo
Ludo, my hound, is the perfect studio mascot because he sleeps under my studio desk and can sleep through the grinding of my pencil sharpener. Plus, he sings!
Lily
This is Lily, one half of my duo of black feline studio mascots. When she’s hungry she’s been known to climb on the drawing/painting board and demand attention. Otherwise, she needs to approve my work before it gets posted online.
