When galleries miss their artists
The mystery about the painter Philipp Weber
Anyone who closely observes the media and the art fairs, notes that sometimes painters, who are coveted by collectors and gallery owners, suddenly become quiet. And most of the time the public does not know anything.
There are several reasons that cause sometimes artists to disappear from the scene. One of these reasons is that worldwide the number of collectors grows, who want exclusivity – artists, special works, great ideas want to be bundled in the owner’s hands. This is, of course, also due to the later monetary exchange, which is connected with it. The interest in artists, whose presence is not permanent and in inflation, rises significantly. This trend is particularly evident in the Gulf region, China and the USA.
Also, Philipp Weber, an important representative of contemporary realism, currently has nothing more to see or to acquire. All his paintings are in the treasury chambers or exhibition rooms of collectors.
From the surroundings of the Frankfurt gallery owner Ulrich Gering it can be seen that Weber is currently working on a large contract project. Since the completion of his last painting „New Birth 3 – Hannah and Christina“ in the spring of 2016, no one knows what will come of Weber in the near future.
Weber was last seen in February 2016 at the Mulan Gallery in Singapore. When and where he will be visible again is completely open.
An answer to the question, what he is working on – actually and in the near future, could not be elicited by the artist. Not yet. But one thing is certain: it will be a great work, commissioned by a lover of contemporary art. The subject is silent on the subject. He only says, „I am grateful that I have have the opportunity for a unique work.“
