I am a national award-winning artist from Casper, Wyoming and own the Navarro Gallery and Sculpture Garden in Sedona, Arizona. I have been sculpting professionally since 1986 and am best known for my large monumental sculptures. I have over thirty-four large bronze sculptures placed throughout the country, and I have work on exhibit in eleven museums. I was named the Honorary Artist for the 2015 Buffalo Bill Art Show in Cody, Wyoming, and I received the 2015 Wyoming Governor’s art award.

I know what it is like to have a dream that only you can see. You must believe in yourself even when no one else does. The secret is, you must do the work. To be great at anything you have to love what you do. You need to put the time in the studio with the materials in your hands. There are no shortcuts; it is about commitment, day by day and year after year.

Everyone faces rejection and difficulties. In life we all get knocked down. The thing we must do is keep getting up and do the very best that is within us. That’s all we can do. Look at challenges as opportunities that help us grow and become stronger.

There is a power that is created when we go through pain and difficulties. With the lessons of life, we gain wisdom and experience growth. Pain and defeat show us more about who we are and what we’re capable of. It is in the struggle where your strength is built, and your character is forged, and you become the person you are today.

In the end, it is not about how many years you lived in this world that is important, it is about the good you can do and what you leave behind that truly matters.

The creation of monumental bronze sculpture is time consuming and labor intensive. It involves creating a clay model, then casting it in bronze through the lost wax method. Sculpting is what I do for a living, and I never plan on retiring. I have found something I love to do, and hope others can see that through the works I have created.

Bronze metal is such a strong, durable, and permanent medium it will last for centuries. All artists strive to live on in their work. Knowing my work will be standing in the sun long after I’m gone for future generations to experience and enjoy is extremely rewarding.

Some recent monumental sculptures I have created include a life-size T. rex for the Tate Museum in Casper, Wyoming, a 16-foot-tall bronze of the famous bucking horse “Steamboat” for the University of Wyoming and “The Messenger’’ for the Alamo Museum in San Antonio, Texas.

I was a former bull and bronc rider, and still compete in team roping. Family, horses, rodeo and art have been the driving passions of my life.
